Orbitum

Facebook and other similar social medias do not provide any customization options. You may add any information you want, but the web interface will always look the same. With Orbitum, you can change the way you view and use your Facebook account. Essentially, it is a free web browser, based on Chromium, which comes with a few extensions, to enhance your Facebook experience. It provides access to a huge collection of skins, which you can apply to Facebook instantly.

When you run the 393 KB installation file, the setup wizard will present two options, for setting the browser to launch automatically when the operating system starts up and for using Orbitum as your default web browser. You just need to click a button, on the same page and the browser will be installed in a few moments.

Orbitum looks and feels just like Google Chrome, so comfort and elegance are two of its main features. The New Tab page brings something new and useful. Besides your most visited web sites, the recently closed ones are also displayed as thumbnails, in a separate category. What's more, you may create your own categories and add web sites. In this way, you can find the same, undisturbed thumbnails at all times, regardless of which sites you visit and how often.

The browser's main feature is the possibility of applying various skins to Facebook. When you access your account, you will find two additional options, on the top edge of Facebook's web interface. One will activate the skins feature, while the other will take you to the Orbitum skins library. The available skins are listed as thumbnails, organized in various categories, such as holidays, auto moto, anime, animals and many more. You just need to click the Apply button, beneath a thumbnail and the skin will be applied instantly. You may click the skin itself, to preview it or leave a comment.

Orbitum lets you create your own skins as well. The option can be found on the skins page and it will take you back to your Facebook page, where you will find a series of options for changing font or background colors, setting different transparency levels and selecting a background image. Besides numerous skins, the software provides you with an easier way to chat with your friends. You can find your Facebook contacts in a list, on the right side of the main window and you may communicate with them in a chat window.
